Life Isn’t

Life is neither a race nor a marathon; that might be capitalism. Racing through life for an end goal is pointless. We're each on unique paths, at our own pace, so there’s no true “ahead” or “behind.” The idea of a marathon still implies competition, but these success targets often just serve capitalist agendas.

Life is not a blueprint we’re trying too hard to fit into; that might be society. Society forces us into molds—education, job, marriage, home ownership. If we don’t fit these blueprints, we’re seen as outliers. Gender, ethnicity, and identity often feel constrained within predefined narratives that don’t allow for individuality.

Life is neither a spiritual quest nor a journey of exploration; that might be just religion. Religions try to define life’s purpose, each with different interpretations. They suggest ways to live based on ancient views of human behavior, yet rarely update with modern understanding. Believing or not believing doesn’t make one answer more “true.”

Life is not a pursuit of absolute truth; that might be science. Science seeks universal truths, and while exploring the universe is a valid choice, it’s still a choice. Is life really about seeking truth, or is that just another way we’ve chosen to look for meaning?

Life is neither winning nor losing; that might be just a game. We tend to label things as wins or losses, but real life is never “apple to apple.” Judgments often lack an objective basis and serve only to satisfy ego or emotions.

Then what is it, you ask — Is it a purpose to seek? Is it about survival, or simply passing on our genes?

I honor every human who came before or will come after, those who work for all these complex matters.

But life itself might be none of these things. Whether we will ever know, we don’t know yet.
